Writer says chair not qualified to lead board

I have attended many of the Peninsula Community Planning Board meetings over the last three years. Up until the recent change of leadership (Dee Wylie), the meetings were run professionally by Cynthia Conger in a timely and clear manner, and within the bylaws of the organization. The last few meetings have been a circus of confusion and disorganization. It appears from this last gathering of Sept. 20 that Dee Wylie is in over her head. She did not run the meeting by her own talents. Instead she purused the room looking for help as to what to do next. She appeared very confused and disoriented by what was being discussed. Thanks to the talents and perserverance of Gregg Robinson and Geoff Page, they were able to somewhat keep her focused on what she has been elected to do. It was three hours of “amusement” I could have lived without.
It appears from these few meetings, the lack of notice of projects to review and her inability in keeping these meetings unbiased, professional and to the point that she is not capable of being the chairperson. It would be nice if she could at least speak up clearly into the microphone so all can hear, respond with some sense of confidence so that we know that she knows how to diplomatically conduct these public sessions. It seems it would be in the best interest of getting projects reviewed and work done that she be asked to step down from this most difficult, yet necessary, job of running these meetings. This is a classic example of the “Peter Principle,” of someone promoted to a job outside their realm of experience, talent and training.
Now it is time to resolve this and let the board get back to doing what it used to do so well before this recent election. The board is elected to represent the community [made up] of long-term homeowners and residents. I, for one, do not feel that Dee Wylie represents me and many other residents who want to preserve, beautify and protect this precious community of Point Loma … Please get on with the business of making Point Loma the Jewel of San Diego.
