A woman’s body was found floating near the Ocean Beach Pier late May 28, and her identity and the events leading to her death remain a mystery.
A beachgoer called 911 after spotting the body. Lifeguards responded to the call and recovered the body, and the medical examiner undertook a preliminary investigation. The body’s condition made it impossible to determine the woman’s age or race. Authorities said the body had been in the water for at least a day.
No signs of foul play or trauma were immediately found. There have been no reports of a missing person fitting the woman’s description, according to police. The medical examiner will attempt to determine who the woman is and exactly how she died.
Authorities are asking the public for help with any information on the identity of the victim.
