A San Diego woman accused of hitting a pedestrian walking along the beach July 29 while driving under the influence was recently charged with four felonies.
Heather Renee Lamb, 24, returns to court for a preliminary hearing to face the following felony charges:
“¢ Driving under the influence of alcohol with a prior DUI conviction within 10 years and with injury
“¢ Driving with a measurement blood/alcohol level of over .08 with injury.
“¢ Hit and run with injury
“¢ Reckless driving with serious injury
Lamb is also charged with a misdemeanor count of reckless driving for allegedly hitting a parked car and trash can near Mission Boulevard and Ventura Place before driving on to the beach.
To maneuver her car on to the beach, San Diego Police officers said Lamb drove over the sidewalk between two concrete posts near Belmont Park, then drove south on the sand towards the jetty.
According to San Diego Police Sgt. Jeff Fellows, Lamb was driving on the sand without her headlights on and the victim couldn’t see her coming from behind.
“She drove all the way to the south parking lot before citizens detained her,” Fellows said in an interview shortly after Lamb was arrested.
The victim suffered a fractured pelvis and dislocated hip.
Lamb pleaded not guilty to all charges and remains free on $136,000 bond. If convicted, she could face three years in prison, but she is also eligible to be placed on probation with a lesser sentence.
At a readiness conference on Sept. 18, San Diego Superior Court Judge Stephanie Sontag repeated her bond conditions by saying she is not to frequent places where alcohol is served or sold, with the exception of a grocery store. Lamb is also required to attend two Alcoholic Anonymous meetings per week as a bond condition.
