On Aug. 24, at approximately 6:37 a.m., the San Diego Police Department Communications Center received a call regarding a possible body in the water at Fiesta Island. A visitor to Fiesta Island discovered what appeared to be a dead body in the water, just off shore from the Island. San Diego Police and San Diego Fire- Rescue personnel responded to the scene and found a body in the water on the south side of Fiesta Island. San Diego Fire-Rescue personnel removed the body from the water and pronounced the victim deceased. The victim has been identified as 36-year-old Anita Teres. Unfortunately, police have not been able to contact her next of kin. Although there are were no obvious traumatic injuries seen of the victim, due to the circumstances and the condition of the body, San Diego Police Homicide investigators were called to the scene out of an abundance of caution. Little is known about the victim, or the circumstances surrounding the death, at this time. San Diego County Crime Stoppers, along with investigators from the San Diego Police Department’s Homicide Unit, are asking for the public’s help with a suspicious death investigation of Teres. The San Diego Police Department’s Homicide Unit is investigating this case as a suspicious death. Teres was known to frequent the areas of Fiesta Island, Downtown San Diego, La Mesa, and various trolley stops.
