A 19-year-old woman, shot in her head and lower body by someone she knew, was listed in stable condition following surgery after being found bleeding on a set of stairs leading to Garbage Beach at Sunset Cliffs, San Diego police investigators said Thursday, April 12. Authorities said a passerby called police about 7 a.m. to report that a person was wounded on the staircase leading from the bluffs to a tidepool area near the intersection of Ladera Street and Sunset Cliffs Boulevard. Medics arrived and transported the victim to UCSD Medical Center’s trauma unit, where she was originally listed in critical condition. The woman had multiple gunshot wounds to her lower body and her head, authorities said. Officers said when they arrived, the woman was awake and told them she didn’t know what happened to her. They added that she was shot by someone she knew, but they would not reveal why. No one reported hearing any gunshots, and as of Thursday night, no arrests had been made in the case.
