Winter sports winding down; Bucs basketball at home in CIF playoffs

With spring around the corner, several Mission Bay winter sports teams are winding down their seasons. Boys basketball
The Bucs entered the week with a mark of 24-5, 11-1 in league action for head coach Marshawn Cherry. They will play Vista in the quarterfinals at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 23 at Mission Bay High. In recent play, Mission Bay lost a hard-fought 54-51 decision to La Jolla last week.
Prior to that contest, the Bucs defeat Kearny (74-36) and Patrick Henry (61-44), respectively. Girls basketball
The Bucs came into the week with an overall record of 4-16, 1-9 in league play for head coach Vince Ichihara.
In their most recent action, the Bucs fell to La Jolla 44-28 last week and then lost 53-33 to Mar Vista in the CIF playoffs. Before that contest, Mission Bay dropped games to Christian (68-29) and Crawford (39-22), respectively. Girls water polo
IMission Bay fell to Point Loma 6-3 this past Monday evening in the CIF Division III semifinals.
Under head coach John Knight, Mission Bay finished the regular season as co-City League champions with a record in league play at 9-1. Girls soccer
Mission Bay came into this week with a record of 10-4-5 for head coach Jorge Palacios.
The Bucs are scheduled to play at Christian at 3:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 23 in the CIF quarterfinals. The Bucs had a three-game winning streak snapped last week in a 4-1 loss to Academy of Our Lady Peace. Boys soccer
The Bucs were 5-12 for head coach Joe Panian. Mission Bay fell 3-0 to Serra in its last game.
