With the big game and Valentine’s Day rapidly approaching on Feb. 12 and Feb. 14, respectively, there is no shortage of activities in Point Loma to celebrate during an extra-long, mid-winter sports and romantic weekend.

Here are just a few places to be, and things to do, while celebrating the big game – or big date.

BIG GAME

Harbor Town Pub Super Bowl Party Card – This laid-back bar and community hub at 1125 Rosecrans St. featuring many craft beers on tap, burgers, and tacos is offering a special Superbowl Card for only $25. The special includes three draft beers, select calls, wines or canned beer, plus six raffle tickets for prizes during Super Bowl Sunday.

Big Game Watch Party – Goodbar at 1872 Rosecrans St. offers trivia, karaoke, live stand-up comedy, and special events like a St. Patrick’s Day block party will be holding a watch party on Super Bowl Sunday, Feb. 12. Festivities start at noon with the game kicking off at 3:30 p.m. The event is being promoted as beer, burgers, best friends, and more. This is a special event so make sure to make a reservation, said Goodbar management on its website. Contact the bar at goodbarsd.com.

Yacht Party – Climb aboard Triton Charters’ 75-foot-long Catamaran to enjoy the game, booze, and beers, all while enjoying the views of San Diego Harbor from 3:30-6:30 p.m. at 2700 Shelter Island Drive. Tickets are $85 and include a three-hour Super Bowl watch party with multiple TVs at every angle, and snacks such as sliders, nachos, tacos; a fully stocked bar, prizes.

VALENTINE’S DAY

Playhouse Musical Theatre – The talented members of “Valentine’s Day Musical Theatre Workshop” will bring your favorite Broadway, pop, and Americana music to life on the Point Loma Playhouse stage, 3035 Talbot St. at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 14. Led by award-winning music director Jordan Miller, your Valentine’s Day will be filled with sweet sounds, romantic tunes and heartfelt joy for all the lovers in the audience. All seats are $14.

Tying The Knot – The San Diego County assessor/recorder/county clerk is reminding love birds wanting to “tie the knot” or renew their wedding vows on Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14 to make their appointment now for a marriage license and ceremony, as appointments are filling quickly. Downtown San Diego, Chula Vista, Santee, and San Marcos offices will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for a marriage license and ceremony appointments. “Walk-in” services without an appointment will be offered for lovebirds living in the moment only at the historic Waterfront Park downtown office. Appointments for love can be made at sdarcc.gov or 619-237-0502. The cost of a non-confidential marriage license is $70. If the couple would like their ceremony to be performed by County staff, the cost is an additional $88. Ceremonies are offered in English and Spanish.

Ocean Beach Valentine’s – Celebrate this season of love the weekend before Valentine’s Day on Saturday, Feb. 11, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Coastal Sage Gardening at 3685 Voltaire St. is spearheading the garden party hosted in the Sefton Gardens, 1890 Sefton Place. Once home to San Diego legend Joseph Sefton, these gardens are rich in history, and the goal is to start a community garden here where everyone can come work on the gardens, as well as reap the awesome rewards such as fresh vegetables and herbs. Make sure you find John or Grace at the event if this has you intrigued and wanting more. If you’d like to get more involved, send an email to [email protected]. Also, check out Instagram @coastalsagegarden.

Sweets for the Sweetie – “Valentine’s Day is the biggest day of the year for us, as we specialize in handmade chocolates,” said Laura Lee Smith owner of Beach Sweets candy shop at 5022 Newport Ave. in OB. “Chocolate is the ultimate indulgence for so many people and a popular gift to give to anyone. Customers love that we make custom gift boxes with their personal selection, so they are able to give a very special gift. Our heart-shaped boxes are our most popular choice as they seem to be a symbol of Valentine’s Day for many lovers around the world,” added Smith. “We also sell a lot of chocolate-dipped strawberries on Valentine’s Day.” Smith pointed out that giving chocolates “is not just for sweethearts, it is for friends, family, co-workers, bosses, schools mates, etc. It is a way to say, ‘I care about you and want to make you happy.’”

Liberty Station Galentine’s – Grab your besties on Saturday, Feb. 11 from noon-3 p.m. and head down to Moniker General at 2860 Sims Road for a charitable Galentine’s day event designed to celebrate you. Shop Moniker is teaming up with local celebrity Becca Kufrin (of “Bachelorette” fame) and her Bourdon sparkling wines to throw a Galentine’s day party for the ages. Attendees will receive a curated gift bag upon arrival, which includes some swag and discounts to Moniker’s favorite brands. More details and tickets are available for purchase at ShopMoniker.co.

Cesarina – Say “That’s Amore!” at one of San Diego’s most romantic restaurants, Cesarina at 4161 Voltaire St. The charming trattoria stages an idyllic backdrop to fall in love again… over a bowl of made-from-scratch pasta, of course. Top off a lunch or dinner date with a tableside tiramisu for two –one of the best desserts in San Diego.

The Craft Creamery – This Valentine’s Day, stop by the shop at 1302 Rosecrans St. for a buy-on-get-one offer from noon-3 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 11. The Creamery offers “scoops on tap,” serving a rotating lineup of flavors from roughly 50 of the nation’s top independent creameries. Locally owned by Moniker Group, the ice cream shop’s unique business model was inspired by an appreciation for craft beer bars, whose tap lists stoplight the industry’s top talents. Visit craftcreamerysd.com.

Valentine’s Concert – The Valentine’s Super Love Jam concert for all ages is at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11 at Pechanga Arena San Diego, 3500 Sports Arena Blvd. The lineup is slated to feature seven artists, including The Isley Brothers, Ginuwine, Blackstreet, and Color Me Badd. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $45.50 to $150. Parking is $35. Visit pechangaarenasd.com.

Floral Valentine’s – Flowers of Point Loma at 2170 Chatsworth Blvd., a full-service florist shop owned by Penn Bryan, has a full list of flower arrangements for that special someone at a full range of prices to be found at flowersofpointloma.biz. “Roses are always a classic, especially red roses,” pointed out Bryan when asked what’s selling this year – or any year. “Men from the younger generation often add balloons and chocolates as well. Normally, we just customize for them, because each of their girls is totally different, so they get what they want. We have a lot of modern or contemporary floral designs on our website, and something new every year.”
