Victoria Robertson to perform in dinner show at The Turquoise

The Turquoise has long been known for its adventurous booking policy, with world music, jazz, and blues on its regular schedule. On June 8 The Turquoise will add opera to its roster, with a dinner show performance of Carmen, by French composer Bizet.

The night will include singer Victoria Robertson as Spanish gypsy, Carmen and Bernardo Bermudez as soldier Don Jose, with Salvador Padilla as the Narrator / Toreador and flamenco guitar by Hector Maldonado. All are major talents, but two-time SDMA nominee Robertson, in particular, is a gifted vocalist with real stage presence. Like many music forms, opera has been in decline in recent years. Hopefully, intimate events like this can help spark new interest in this classic art form.
