Downtown San Diego has a new attraction. The new Red Circle on the corner of Fourth Avenue and E Street offers a new vibe in a relaxing environment.
Paul Parente, one of the owners and the assistant general manager, is very content with the opening week. The opening was stretched over five days because of the limited space.
“All five days were amazing,” Parente said. “We exceeded our expectations, and the reviews are astonishing.”
The customers enjoyed the club, too.
“Isn’t it classy in here?” one of the female guests said, sipping her champagne.
“Some people refer to our venue as a house party Downtown,” said Parente. “We control the customer’s experience from the moment they step through the front door by providing excellent customer service as well as an amazing sound system.”
In contrast to most of the nightclubs Downtown with smoke machines, strobe lights, laser lights, tacky go-go dancers and wallet-crushing drink prices, the new Red Circle takes pride in its “low-key, candle-lit, seductive environment,” as Parente put it.
More than 100 candles on the wall and a gold leaf frame with projections of abstract photos create an ever-changing sensation throughout the night.
“The concept was inspired out of a lack of comfortable nightclub establishments in the Gaslamp,” Parente said. “We love candle light and the vibe that comes with it.” Combined with the high ceilings and the Roman pillars, a sense of grandeur is established.
“It all comes together for a unique experience,” Parente said.
The new Red Circle is open every night and offers a happy hour from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursdays through Saturdays, with free edamame, 1/2 off wine, 25 percent off food and $5 “u-call-it” cocktails.
“Everyone is welcome as long as they bring a great attitude,” Parente said.
Located within the Gaslamp quarter, the new Red Circle is easily accessible.
“Our street is filled with entertainment,” Parente said. “With the opening of the Balboa Theater across the street, guests can enjoy our amazing gourmet tapas before going to the theater, see a play, then dance the night away in our comfortable nightclub.”
The new Red Circle is located on 420 E St., and special event postings can be found online.
“It all came together through a collaboration of very hard work, determination and perseverance,” Parente said. “Now we can focus on the fall through spring to bring San Diego a new style of entertainment.”
