Following its four-game series sweep over No. 17 Mesa State recently, the UCSD baseball team was ranked No. 1 nationally by the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper’s (CBN) poll. The Tritons, 7-1 on the season, topped the poll with 480 points. They were ranked second in CBN’s previous two polls. Florida Southern (7-0) was second with 458 points and Georgia College & State (5-2) was third with 454 points. Southern Indiana (1-2), which defeated UCSD in the 2010 national title game, dropped all the way to 13th in the poll after owning the top spot since the preseason.
