A trial date has been set for a bookkeeper for a defunct La Jolla restaurant in the theft of millions of dollars. Tara Moore is accused of stealing more than $5 million from her employer, former mother-in-law and others, with $3 million said to have been stolen from Jack’s on Girard Avenue.
Moore’s alleged fraud surfaced when Jack’s owner Bill Berkley hired an outside accountant to examine the restaurant’s records.
Moore worked for the Girard Avenue eatery from 2005 to 2009. More than 100 employees lost their jobs when the business closed in August of 2009.
If convicted, Moore could face up to 20 years in prison.
