It can be tough to find the purrfect name for your adopted cat, but sometimes they take no effort at all. Case in point: the most popular cat name in San Diego County.
The Department of Animal Services tracked felines and recorded their name at the time of adoption, claim or microchipping and found out which names were most popular in the county. The results were a far cry from the top 10 dog names, which could’ve substituted, for the most part, as human names. Which name was the cat’s pajamas? Find out below.

There are plenty of kitties with unique names at the county’s three animal shelters – like Mango and Atticus. And, of course, there are many more pets waiting for a unique name along with their forever home.
During July, because of an inundation of kittens and cats, all felines are available for adoption for a “name your price” special. The regular $58 adoption fee will be waived and you can pay what you’d like for a kitty.
