Three Sea Lions earn All-PacWest honors in golf

Haley Fuller, Kathleen Crossley and Annika Nousiainen have all been voted to the All-PacWest Conference team by the league’s coaches. Fuller picked up first team honors, while both Nousiainen and Crossley earned second team honors for the second straight season.
Fuller earned first team honors in her first year with the Sea Lions. The freshman from Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif. (Trabuco Hills HS) became just the second Sea Lion ever to win an individual title at a tournament when she fired a 1-over 149 at Torrey Pines to capture the PLNU Fall Preview Championship. She played in all 10 tournaments and averaged 77.48 strokes. She finished in the top 10 five times and in the top 20 in all but one tournament. She finished ninth at the PacWest Championships with a 232 (+16).
Crossley became the first Sea Lion to ever earn three All-PacWest honors. She was a third team selection as a sophomore before she moved up to the second team each of the past two seasons. The senior from San Diego (Helix Charter HS) won the Cal State San Marcos Women’s Cougar Invitational by four strokes with a 2-over, 146. She played in all 10 tournaments this season and averaged 77.95 strokes. During the middle of the season, Crossley had a five tournament stretch in which she never finished below seventh on the individual leaderboard. She finished the year with seven top 20 finishes. Including the PacWest Championships where she tied for 13th with a 239 (+23).
Nousiainen collected All-PacWest honors in each of her two seasons with the Sea Lions. Since transferring into PLNU, Nousiainen played in tournament, including 10 this season in which she averaged 79.85 strokes. The native of Truckee, Calif. (Truckee HS), posted her best score of the year at the PacWest Championships where she finished tied for seventh with a 231 (+15). She also had six other top 25 finishes throughout the season.
The three selections for PLNU on the first and second teams matched Academy of Art and California Baptist for most picks on the two teams. The three squads owned nine of the 10 places on the first two All-PacWest teams. Cal Baptist had the most overall selections with five. CBU’s Tina Yang and ART U’s Crystal Wang shared PacWest Golfer of the Year honors. Shu-Lin Lin of Academy of Art was voted Freshman of the Year, while Elaine Harris (ART U) and Jacqui McSorley (PLNU) shared Coach of the Year honors.
