Local writer, producer, director Terry Wilson will be traveling around the coastal areas profiling interesting people, places and events This week, Terry speaks with Ocean Beach photographer Steve Rowell.
Ocean Beach in the ’60s was a haven for hippies, bikers, and surfers alike; it was an era that embraced everything the Beach Boys sang about.
Lifelong OB resident Rowell was right there in the middle of it all, camera in hand he captured the excitement of the era one frame at a time and put in his book, “OB in the ’60s.”
Long time Ocean Beach resident Wilson has had a varied and fascinating career in radio, TV and as a freelance writer. In the process of hosting a variety of magazine shows and cable network specials, he has been struck by lightning three-times, attacked by a shark, run over by a runaway semi while standing in a Shell Mini Bart, and once he barely escaped from members of the Manson Family.
