
On April 9, at 12:06 a.m., a 26-year-old male pedestrian was struck by a vehicle when he stopped to assist a disabled motorist parked along the west curb line of 2900 Sunset Cliffs Blvd. After the collision, the driver of the suspect vehicle failed to stop and fled the scene. The male pedestrian sustained serious injuries as a result of the collision. The San Diego Police Department’s Traffic Investigation Unit identified the suspect vehicle as green 1998 or 1999 Subaru Outback Legacy wagon. A citizen located the suspect vehicle at 4300 Orchard Ave. in San Diego and notified police. The suspect driver was later identified as 27-year-old Jaron Hillyer. On May 7, Hillyer was taken into custody and booked into County Jail for felony hit and run, driving with a suspended license and no valid insurance. The investigation is ongoing.
