AT&T announced its plans to invest in the community by supporting charitable organizations and giving back to nonprofits — much like many local companies. One philanthropic company in particular the communications giant is interested in partnering with is the La Jolla-based Surf Diva. To acknowledge the surfing school for its contributions to the community, AT&T donated 25 portable, durable and waterproof devices and accessories to Surf Diva. Designed to provide a learning platform for student safety while helping instructors stay connected on the beach and in the water, the donation prompted Surf Diva owners Coco and Izzy Tihanyi hosted a technology-infused surf class on April 25 at La Jolla Shores, demonstrating the use of new smartphones and tablets for keeping students and surfers safe in and out of the water. — Staff and contribution
