After an impressive 4-1 win over Parceiro Ladies to open the WPSL regular season last Saturday, the San Diego Strikers now face So Cal Union FC on Sunday, May 29 at Mission Bay High School.

The team has yet to lose since joining the WPSL in 2021 having won all matches they have played so far over the two seasons. As for the Strikers’ next opponent, So Cal Union FC, this will be the first time the two teams play against each other.

“We have an excellent squad and the team will definitely be ready to go for Sunday,” said San Diego Strikers head coach Ray Taila.

So Cal Union FC was established in 2016 with its inaugural play in the WPSL coming two years later. The team is comprised of high-level players who compete at the collegiate level all over the country with several former So Cal Union FC players having previously or are currently competing professionally in Denmark, Iceland, Spain, Australia, Puerto Rico, and domestically.

Some have also represented their respective national team programs such as the United States, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Philippines, Canada, and other countries. This is the fourth season that So Cal Union FC is competing in the WPSL including 2018, 2019, and 2021 only losing one home match so far as a member of the league over that span.

So Cal Union FC went 5-2-2  last season and this will be the first time they face the Strikers in the team’s history. The kickoff for the match is set for 4 p.m. at Mission Bay High School.
