To kick off the school year, Stella Maris Academy held a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 7:45 a.m. on Aug. 21, to unveil the school’s new reception area and administrative offices. At this event, Stella Maris’ pastor, Fr. Patrick Mulcahy, spoke to the parents, parishioners, and guests; and current and former Stella Maris principals, Francie Moss and Patricia Lowell, respectively, cut the ribbon in the celebratory event.
The remodel was on the school’s front administration area, including the reception area, administrative offices, and the principal’s office.
“My office used to be around the corner and down the hall. It wasn’t accessible at all,” said Francie Moss, who is starting her first year at Stella Maris. “Now my door is the first door guests see after they walk in the reception office. If my door is open, I’m available. I can be as welcoming as the receptionist.”
The biggest benefit of the remodel is its accessibility to guests, agrees Stella Maris’ director of advancement, Jennifer Ledhors. “Our guests, parishioners, parents, and students will be better served when they come in through the door and are greeted and can be assisted a bit more efficiently.”
The ribbon-cutting ceremony was accompanied by a blessing. Francie Moss shares, “Father Pat blessed the new offices and blessed the kids for a wonderful new school year, which I’m sure we will have.”
