Both teams are undefeated in league, but face a tough meet this week against Cathedral.

La Jolla High girls track runs at Mt. Carmel
La Jolla High’s Nihal Kayali broke the school record in the 1,600 meters by running 5:05.66 at last Saturday’s Mt. Carmel Invitational. The old record of 5:05.97 was set in 1990 by Mailee Ferguson.
In action last Thursday, La Jolla defeated Kearny 116-18. The Lady Vikings won 14 of the 16 events.
Season bests were established by the following athletes: Gina Schumacher and Shelby Rustin in both hurdle races; Callan Parra in the 400; Christie Richmond, Natalie Russell, Tatevick Simavoryan and Ilanna Fricks in the 800; Jeanine Mejares, Meagan Bautista and Zoe Wesco in the 3,200; Allyn Meyer in the long jump, triple jump and shot put; Kylie Henry, Jessica Wood and Sasha Altschuler in the long jump; Breanna Gomes, Kaitlin Denison, Kieresten Gore and Alexis Tracy in the high jump; Lauren Shwisberg in the pole vault; and Jasmine Graze and Carmen Spicer in the shot put.

La Jolla High netters take to court
The La Jolla High boys tennis team hit the courtslast week for its first action of the season.
In the Western League opener against Scripps Ranch, La Jolla scored a 13-5 victory.
Michael Rabinovich won all his sets without losing a game. In doubles action, Daniel Lapidus and Sean Rodriguez went 3-0 and have not lost a set this year.
Pop Warner Football holds registration
The 2008 La Jolla Pop Warner Football & Cheer Association will hold sign-ups Saturday, April 5, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., near the snack bar at the Cliffridge Park baseball fields, 8350 Cliffridge Drive.
There will be registration for flag and tackle football, and cheerleading, in several age divisions.
Parents need to bring a certified copy of their child’s birth certificate and one extra copy, two copies of the child’s current report card, two current color photos clearly showing the child’s face, a check or money order and the child. Fees range from $250 to $340. Practice and home games will take place at La Jolla Country Day School, 9490 Genesee Ave.
A second registration day is Saturday, April 26 at Standley Recreation Center, 3585 Governor Drive, same time. For information, visit www.lajollapopwarner.org.
