Viking Wrestling Club invites new members
Children of all ages who have grown tired of wrestling their siblings following the wrestling season now have another option. The Viking Wrestling Club started on March 4 and will continue through the second week of June.
The club will hold practices in the La Jolla High School wrestling room each Tuesday and Thursday. Returning wrestlers will practice from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m., and first-year wrestlers will practice from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. This is the first year that the club is opening itself up for middle and elementary school students.
Because the Viking Wrestling Club is an official AAU sanctioned club, an AAU membership card is required in order to participate. The card costs $12 and can be purchased at the organization’s Web site, www.aausports.org.
There is also a fee to participate in the club. The club fee is $100 for first-year wrestlers and $50 for returning high school wrestlers. Wrestling shoes are required and can be purchased locally at OTM Fight Shop in Pacific Beach or online at www.suplay.com.
