Several local scholastic girls softball teams have hit the diamonds recently in search of precious wins.
At The Bishop’s School, the Lady Knights under head coach Thomas Abeyta scored recent wins over Mater Dei (10-4) and San Diego Jewish Academy (2-0).
In the win over Mater Dei, Linnea Abeyta went 3-for-4 with two RBIs, Briana Martinez and Kristen Casey each had two RBIs and pitcher Natalie Camarda recorded nine strikeouts.
In the victory against SDJA, Camarda recorded 16 Ks, giving SDJA its first loss of the season. The junior has a 5-0 record to date and 65 strikeouts.
At La Jolla High, the Lady Vikings had three errors in an 8-7 loss to league foe Mission Bay last Friday.
La Jolla entered play this week with a record of 4-9. The Lady Vikings were shut out twice in games before the Mission Bay contest, with losses to Madison (8-0) and Cathedral (9-0).
University City High (6-2), winners of four of its last five games, scored seven runs in the third inning en route to a 14-7 victory over Coronado last Friday.
The Lady Centurions also scored a 4-0 win over Christian, holding their foes to five hits on the day.
