Our December mixer-social meeting was cancelled however, at the next meeting of the San Carlos Area Council (SCAC) on Wednesday, Jan. 18 at the San Carlos Branch Library 7265 Jackson Drive (pictured above), we will do a brief social (6 to 6:30 p.m.) and then head into our regular meeting. Our guest speaker will be Councilman Raul Campillo.

The toy drive sponsored by John’s Automotive Care in Allied Gardens was a tremendous success and many toys were given to the Boys and Girls Clubs. Thank you to everyone who helped to make this a success and especially to John’s Automotive for “caring” not only for out autos but our kiddo’s.

Elections for the SCAC are coming up in May and frankly we need more Board members. Many are moving away for various reasons (to be closer to our kids, downsize our living style, health issues, etc.).

If you would like to get involved contact me at: [email protected].

We also need someone to tend to our “garden” Plot C-1 at the San Carlos Community Garden. The SCAC meetings are bi-monthly – odd months, at the San Carlos Branch Library on Jackson Drive at 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

On our list of proposed attendees are representatives from the SDFD; SDPD; Congresswoman Sara Jacobs; State Assembly District 78, Christopher Ward; State Senate District 39, Toni Atkins; County Supervisor, Joel Anderson; Mayor, Todd Gloria; Council member District 7, Raul Campillo; SD City Attorney, Mara Elliott; SDUSD Trustee, Shana Hazan; and our Librarian, David Ege.

We voted them in (except Ege but we would if we could!) now let’s have a dialogue with them so we hear what is happening in their respective “offices” and what we, the people, are concerned about.

Democracy works, lets keep it thriving and working for and with all of us.

– Mickey Zeichick is president, SCAC.
