La Jolla High was among some of the area scholastic baseball teams that picked up victories on the baseball diamond last week.
La Jolla improved its record to 7-3-1 with a pair of wins.
In a 12-3 win over San Diego High, Peter Sefton (3-for-4, five RBIs) and Kyle Zimmer led the way with home runs. Patrick Christensen was the beneficiary of the offensive explosion as he tossed 5 1/3 innings to earn his third win of the season.
In an 8-6 win over Mira Mesa, Sefton again provided some offense with a two-run homer.
Trailing 6-4 after some sloppy defense, the Vikings came back to tie the game at 6-6 in the fifth inning. Trent Jemmett singled home two runs in the sixth to put the Vikings back in front for good.
Wyatt Hoff went the distance, striking out seven to even his record at 2-2 for the season.
“We are really starting to play some good baseball,” La Jolla High head coach Gary Frank said. “Our bats have begun to come alive and our pitching has been very good all year long. We need to be a little more consistent defensively, but we’re improving every day.”
The Bishop’s School raised its record to 6-3 last week with a 4-2 win over Santa Fe Christian.
Raj Dharmapal (two RBIs), Damien Tschirn and Chris Ludwig knocked in runs for the Knights.
University City High ran its record to 7-6 with a 9-2 victory over Hoover last week.
Travis Parkyn (three RBIs) and Jon Wright (two RBIs) provided much of the offense, while Ryan Waltermire picked up the victory and struck out 12.
