Local scholastic sluggers continue to go after wins on the diamond in recent weeks.
La Jolla Country Day (LJCD) School saw nonleague action last week in a contest with Sitka High (Alaska).
Down 2-1 in the sixth inning, LJCD came through with six hits and a walk to plate six runs, en route to a 7-2 win.
Greg Wisenberg tossed a strong game, yielding no earned runs, and improved his record to 2-0. Tommy Morris led the Torreys offensively, going 2-for-3 with a homer, triple, one run scored and three RBIs.
A day later, LJCD went to Santa Fe Christian and dropped a tough 3-2 decision.
Zack Kusnir pitched a strong game, giving up one run over six innings. LJCD went into the seventh up 2-1, but SFC came back with a pair of runs to win the game.
LJCD is now 5-2 and headed to Arizona for the Cleats National Invitational Tournament this week.
La Jolla High, meantime, saw its record fall to 5-3 last week with a pair of losses.
The Vikings fell to Mission Bay 6-0 and to Saints by a 6-3 score.
Finally, The Bishop’s School heads into action this week at 3-5 after going 1-2 in its last three contests.
The Knights also got the better of Sitka High, scoring a 6-1 victory. Bishop’s then dropped contests to Calvin Christian, 5-3, and to San Dieguito Academy, 4-3.
