Sheryl Siebrasse (neé Vollan), a resident of Pacific Beach, died Oct. 30 in an automobile accident in Germany.
Born March 15, 1979 in Corona, Calif., Sheryl grew up in Hannibal, Mo.
She married her high school sweetheart, Joseph “JJ” Siebrasse, now a sergeant in the U.S. Army. They have been in Germany for the past three years.
Sheryl was studying to become a librarian. Her passion was researching her family tree, which she had been compiling from hard research and tenacious study.
Sgt. Joseph Siebrasse was on his third tour to Iraq when he had to rush to Germany to be with his children. Both Nikki, 12, and Joey, 9, were in the car with their mother during the accident. Nikki suffered a broken ankle, cuts and bruises. She is convalescing at home with her dad. Joey’s injuries were more extensive, with broken bones in his face and a broken rib.
Sheryl was a beautiful young woman who was adored as a child and enjoyed as an adult. She was a wonderful mother ” patient, kind and encouraging; strict, moral and hardworking. She was thoughtful and giving, having once crocheted four afghans in one year for Christmas presents!
Though small in stature, she was strong and courageous, a descendent of pioneers and a sixth-generation native Californian. Sheryl was a true gentlewoman. She made her family proud and she was proud of her family.
Sheryl is survived by her husband and her two children; her mother, Koleen Bender, and her grandmother, Barbara Ryan, both of Santa Ana; her grandmother, Dee Vollan of Lake Elsinore; her grandfather, Harold Haden, currently in Oregon; her aunt, Dee Kahler of La Jolla; and other aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
Her family is comforted knowing that Sheryl is in heaven now, an angel for all time.
