Witness theater history as Point Loma High School presents I.SEE.U., a new production involving medicine, mice and madcap comedy.
The musical was created by over 100 students from the Gotta Sing Gotta Dance Company at PLHS. Under the direction of Larry Zeiger, the musical theater program at PLHS has soared to new heights, earning statewide recognition and a number of awards over the past three decades, as well as national media attention for their unusual format.
The inspiration for I.SEE.U. came after Zeiger was hospitalized last November. Since then the musical has developed a life of its own.
The show centers around a high school theater director who suddenly becomes catatonic before opening night. A pair of the director’s most brilliant students must shrink themselves to explore their hospitalized director’s insides to find a way to heal him. The musical is a comedic journey through the human body that lampoons countless public figures and policies in addition to being just plain fun.
I.SEE.U. is an entirely original production that was conceived and created by director Larry Zeiger’s students. Not only has the musical allowed PLHS students to be creative with theater, but the background of the musical allowed them to work with medical professionals to learn about human anatomy.
A number of the doctors and nurses that aided students in the production were also involved with Zeiger’s own hospital visit and some will even perform in the production.
I.SEE.U. will show at 7:00 p.m. on May 18, 19, 25, 26, 27 and June 1, 2, 3 at the Larry Zeiger Performing Arts Center at PLHS.
