Scientist and PLHS grad to give climate change presentation

A world-renowned scientist, who is a Point Loma High alum and recent Pointer Hall of Fame inductee, will return to campus for a thorough explanation of global warming.
Jeffrey Bennett, Class of 1976, has spent his career sharing his knowledge with children, students and adults, and he has taught every level of school from primary to university.
Bennett will speak on Thursday, June 1 at 7 p.m. in the PLHS Media Center on campus. Students and community members are encouraged to attend his entertaining and enlightening presentation on the sometimes controversial topic.
Visitors to the National Mall in Washington, D.C. have seen his scale model of the solar system installed there. And Bennett’s “Science Adventures with Max the Dog” children’s book series was selected for the “Story Time From Space” program and taken aboard the International Space Station in January 2014 to be read by astronauts to children around the world.
Bennett has donated more than 25,000 copies of these books to teachers and school libraries in more than 60 countries and oversees a company called “Big Kid Science.”
He has written college textbooks in four distinct subject areas including astronomy, mathematics, statistics and astrobiology (life in the universe).
Interested adults and students can learn more about Bennett’s numerous achievements and honors at www.jeffreybennett.com.
