The Pacific Beach/Taylor Library closed temporarily as of Feb. 28 so that new carpet may be installed. The library will reopen April 8 at 9:30 a.m. In addition, the entire San Diego Public Library system will permanently reduce its service hours effective Saturday, March 20, due to budget cuts. When the Taylor Library reopens on April 8, it will use the new service hours that are being instituted systemwide on March 20. The permanent schedule at the Pacific Beach/Taylor Library will be: Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 12:30-8 p.m.; Thursdays and Fridays, 9:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.; Saturdays, 9:30-2:30 p.m.; and closed on Sundays and Mondays. Four San Diego Public Library locations will open on Sundays from 1 to 5 p.m. They are La Jolla, Point Loma, Serra Mesa/Kearny Mesa, and the Central Library. More information about the library system’s new hours is available at www.sandiegolibrary.org. Both bookdrops will be closed at the Pacific Beach/Taylor Library during the temporary closure for reaccepting. Items that have been reserved may be picked up at the La Jolla/Riford Branch Library, located at 7555 Draper Ave. The phone number there is (858) 552-1657. The new schedule for recurring activities at the Pacific Beach/Taylor Library that will move due to the change in schedule will be posted at www.pblibraryfriends.org. The Pacific Beach/Taylor Library opened on May 3, 1997, and is currently used by approximately 20,000 people each month. The 12,484 square foot facility was designed by Manuel Oncina Architects to be open, light and airy. This will be the first time that the carpet has been replaced in this facility. The new carpet will be paid for by funds donated to the Pacific Beach/Taylor Library. The Pacific Beach/Taylor Branch of the San Diego Public Library is located at 4275 Cass St. For questions, call the library at (858) 581-9934.
