Save the date: Bird Rock's Summer Walk back for second installment

Due to popular demand, Summer Walk 2 will talk place in Bird Rock on Aug. 29 from 5 to 7:30 pm. Join Bird Rock residents and local businesses once again for an Italian style passeggiata, or evening neighborhood stroll, down La Jolla Boulevard on the 5500, 5600 & 5700 blocks in Bird Rock. Enjoy an evening of art, music and cuisine as you peruse the boulevard’s eclectic collection of galleries, restaurants and shops brimming with creativity. Galleries showcase their latest collections at GALLERIe, Bird Rock Art Nest of La Jolla, Bird Rock Arts, Bird Rock Coffee Roasters, Moonglow and Prodigy School of the Arts. Live musicians from La Jolla High School, Riffs Acoustic Music and grassroots local musicians will perform along the boulevard, and Beaumont’s will have live music and happy hour late into the night. Bird Rock restaurants, including Beaumont’s, Lupi, Station Sushi, Bella Roma, Bahia Don Bravo, La Basil Thai and more, will feature Summer Walk specials. Bird Rock Coffee Roasters & Prodigy School of the Arts will both feature an open mic for the courageous and talented among us. Check out Adrenalina longboard shop on the 5700 block, where visitors can paint at the skateboard deck painting station and visit with skateboard celebrities. GWEN Couture will showcase another fabulous display of original fashion designs. All ages are welcome at the Interactive Chalk Art station set up in Le Le’s parking lot. The smoothie maker will be humming at Surfside Smoothies and Bird Rock Artist Guild will feature artwork in the Bird Rock Surf parking lot. Bird Rock Fine Wines offers a specialty wine-tasting bar for the evening, while Needlepoint of La Jolla offers the latest canvases and beautiful yarns and threads. Beads of La Jolla’s blow-out 50 percent off bead sale will be a big hit, and visitors can make a few earrings while there. Stop in at All About Animals to find a pet you would like to take home. Get centered at Riffs watching the yoga demos.
Bird Rock merchants are open for the evening on all three blocks with discounts and samples. Check out the offerings at A Better Deal Tuxedo, La Jolla Mailbox, The UPS Store SPIN, Farm to Fork, White Light Pilates, Glo Beauty Bar make up artists, Starbucks, Bird Rock Yogurt, Sola Salon Capricorn Boutique and more. Bring your Bird Rock Community Council membership card for merchant discounts.
