Coming off a 1-0 home win over Gold Star FC Detroit on May 7, Albion San Diego will play in front of the home fans at Canyon Crest Academy on May 14 when it takes on the Savannah Clovers.
The team, led by head coach Diego Gomez, enters the match with a 1-1-1 record and has given up just one goal over its last two games while Savannah comes in with a 1-2-2 record after playing the current leader in the NISA standings, Chattanooga FC, to a 1-1 draw on May 6 after giving up a dramatic 95th-minute goal.
Albion will be going on a three-game road trip to Chattanooga, Savannah, and Orlando, where it faces Club de Lyon, after the match versus the Clovers on Sunday and returning home on June 15 to take on the Maryland Bobcats in a rematch of last season’s quarterfinal playoff game that Albion won 2-0.
As for Savannah, this is their first season as a member of NISA – like Club de Lyon and Gold Star FC Detroit – and are led by head coach David Proctor who was previously the coaching director at South Georgia Tormenta FC of USL League One and Charleston Battery of USL Championship.
Albion San Diego will play the Clovers three times this regular season including a match on Aug. 27 back in San Diego. The top-six teams make it to the NISA playoffs with the first and second seeds earning a first-round bye.
