San Diego Wave announces preseason training camp roster

San Diego Wave Fútbol Club announced on Feb. 6 its preseason roster ahead of the team’s first training session on Monday, Feb. 6, at the San Diego Polo Fields in Del Mar. Wave FC’s preseason roster includes 25 players, with the core of the record-breaking inaugural team returning for the club’s second season.

Among those players returning are Alex Morgan (above), the 2022 NWSL Golden Boot winner, Naomi Girma, the 2022 NWSL Rookie of the Year and Defender of the Year, and Kailen Sheridan, the 2022 NWSL Goalkeeper of the Year.

In addition, the Wave signed three free agents in midfielders Danielle Colaprico, Meggie Doughtery Howard, and forward Rachel Hill during the offseason.

The Wave’s three NWSL Draft picks will join the team for preseason including Cardiff native Sierra Enge. She will be joined by Giovanna DeMarco and Lauren Brzykcy as they all enter camp after being selected on Jan. 12, in Philadelphia.

Current San Diego Wave roster by position:

Goalkeepers (3): Kailen Sheridan (INT), Carly Telford (INT), Lauren Brzykcy (Draft);
Forwards (7): Amirah Ali, Makenzy Doniak, Sofia Jakobsson, Alex Morgan, Jaedyn Shaw, Rachel Hill, Melanie Barcenas (U18 Trialist);
Midfielders (9): Belle Briede, Taylor Kornieck, Kristen McNabb, Kelsey Turnbow, Emily Van Egmond (INT), Meggie Dougherty Howard, Danielle Colaprico, Sierra Enge (Draft), Giovanna DeMarco (Draft), Maisie Whitsett (NRI);
Defenders (6): Abby Dahlkemper, Mia Gyau, Naomi Girma, Madison Pogarch, Kaleigh Riehl, Christen Westphal, Trinity Watson (NRI).

Fans can secure a seat to all of the Wave’s home matches at Snapdragon Stadium by purchasing a season ticket for the 2023 campaign.
