After finishing undefeated for a second-straight season along with winning another Plymouth Division crown with the best record in the So Cal conference at 7-0-1, the San Diego Strikers will now face Miss Kick FC in the playoffs at 7 p.m. on Friday, July 8 at Mission Bay High School for the conference championship.

The team, led by head coach Ray Taila, ended the regular season with a 2-2 draw against Dutch Lions FC at home on July 1 followed by a 2-1 win over San Diego Parceiro Ladies at Madison High School on July 3 with goals from midfielders Maddy Samilo and Cassie Callahan.

Over their first two seasons as a member of the Women’s Premier Soccer League, the Strikers have gone a combined 13-0-1 having yet to lose a single match.

The Strikers were led in scoring this season by forward Kiera Bocchino who tallied six goals, with her most recent coming in the match versus the Dutch Lions on July 1. She was a big reason why the team finished with a plus-21 goal differential, along with the team’s excellent defending and goalkeeping from Kelcie Brodsky, who only gave up five goals overall.

As for their next opponent, Miss Kick FC finished the season with a 4-1-3 record and in second place in the So Cal Conference Coastal Division.

The kickoff for Friday’s conference championship post-season match is at 7 p.m. with tickets at $5.
