The Strike Force has locked in 10 defensive backs as a part of their training camp roster for the 2020 IFL season.
Training camp will officially kick off on Feb. 22 comprising of a 40-man roster and entail two practice weeks prior to the team’s Week 1 road matchup in Bismarck, N.D. against the Bucks.
“We’ve put together a group comprised of players bringing IFL, AFL, and CFL experience along with some young talent with high-level collegiate experience,” said Strike Force defensive coordinator Derek Dahlen. “This year’s secondary will be graded on their athleticism and playmaking ability on the ball with a big emphasis on their run-stopping abilities. We’re looking forward to blending a talented group of players with great cover skills who also bring a very physical approach to the game.”
– EJ Johnson (5-10, 195, Rockford University) appeared in nine games for the Strike Force in 2019 finishing with 35 total tackles, two tackles for loss, two pass breakups, and a fumble recovery. The indoor veteran previously spent time with the Dodge City Law and Salina Liberty of the Champions Indoor Football League. The California native’s collegiate career was highlighted by a junior season where he recorded seven interceptions with 24 tackles. 
– Omar Cook (5-11, 195, Southern University) led the Strike Force lineup with 73 tackles and ranked second in the IFL with 12 pass breakups during the 2019 season. Cook came to San Diego from the IFL’s Nebraska Danger and Billings Wolves. The California native played collegiately at Southern University, earning a spot to play in the 2014 Football Championship Subdivision National All-Star Bowl game.
– Shane Boyle (5-10, 190, Faulkner University) appeared in four games for San Diego during the 2019 season and recorded 16 total tackles (six solos) and forced one fumble. Prior to the IFL, he competed in the AFL for the Portland Steel and Los Angeles Kiss. The Louisiana native played collegiately with the College of the Desert (Palm Desert) where he was ranked No. 11 cornerback in the nation and All-Conference Defense. He finished his collegiate career with Faulkner University where he played in nine games and notched 29 tackles (16 solos) with two interceptions.
– Micah Eugene Jr. (5-1, 190, Southeastern Louisiana University) coming to San Diego after spending his first season in the IFL with the Tucson Sugar Skulls where he ranked fifth in the league with 81 tackles and eight pass breakups. He was named IFL Week 13 Defensive Player of the Week after totaling seven tackles, one interception, two tackles for loss and four pass breakups. The Louisiana native completed his collegiate career with 65 tackles (45 solos), a forced fumble, and two fumble recoveries and earned honorable mention All-Southland Conference List. 
– Jarmaine Doubs Jr. (5-10, 185, Southern Utah University) enters his first season in the IFL after playing for Southern Utah University. He appeared in seven games, finishing with 81 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, four interceptions, four pass breakups with five pass deflections and a touchdown. The highlight of his collegiate career was securing a win with a pick-six and setting a school record for the longest interception of 98 yards for a touchdown. Prior to SU Doubs played for West Los Angeles College where he led the team with 41 tackles and three interceptions.
– Donnie Duncan (6-2, 220, University of New Mexico) indoor veteran joining San Diego for his first season in the IFL coming off of three seasons in the CIF with the Amarillo Venom where he recorded ten interceptions and earned 2nd Team All-Conference honors in 2017 and winning the 2018 and 2019 CIF Championships with the Duke City Gladiators. The Southern California native recorded 55 tackles (44 solo), three pass breakups and two interceptions during his collegiate career as a Lobo.
– Malcom Lee (6-2, 200, University of British Colombia) joins the IFL for his first season of indoor football after impressing the scouts during the CFL combine. He started his collegiate career with the University of Nevada where switched from wide receiver to cornerback before the championship game of his freshman season. He finished at the University of British Colombia totaling 100 tackles (69 solo) during 34 game appearances. 
– Tareq Abulebbeh (5-9, 181, University of Minnesota-Duluth) rejoins the Strike Force after playing in one game during the 2019 season. During his time with San Diego Mesa Community College he led the team with six interceptions, including two pick-sixes and tallied 21 tackles during the 2014 season. He continued onto Southern Illinois University and finished with 34 tackles (18 solo), four kick returns attempts for 29 yards and five interceptions at the University of Minnesota-Duluth.
– Malik Boynton (6-0, 200, Austin Peay University) Boynton joins the Strike Force for his first season in the IFL after spending some time with the Winnipeg Bombers of the Canadian Football League. Prior to the CFL he was a member of the now shutdown Alliance of American Football League with the Memphis Express. The Michigan native was named team captain his senior season to lead Austin Peay with 51 tackles to their first winning record in over four years finishing his collegiate career with 151 tackles (101 solo) landing him an invitation to the Pittsburgh Steelers minicamp in May 2018.
– Daquawn Brown (6-0, 188, Southeastern Oklahoma) enters his first season in the IFL. The California native finished his collegiate career at Southeastern Oklahoma State University where he received Great American Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors after recording five tackles and five pass breakups. Prior to SE, Daquawn played two seasons at Washington State University where he racked up 132 tackles and 16 pass breakups in 25 games.
