San Diegans headed to Petco Park on Jan. 18 to pay tribute to Jerry Coleman, longtime announcer for the Padres and beloved community member. In addition to the legions of fans who attended, the memorial also drew Padres broadcaster Dick Enberg, MLB?executive vice president Joe Torre and Coleman’s partner in the broadcasting booth, Ted Leitner. Numerous friends and family members spoke, and the service included an F-18 flyover, a 21-gun salute and World War II-era Corsair fighter-bombers. Coleman, 89, died Jan. 5 from pneumonia and complications from a fall. Photos by DON?BALCH
