Rosamaria Acuña, a top-producing Realtor with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices California Properties and recognized Point Loma community leader, recently completed her 35th year in the real estate business. Known for her extensive local-market knowledge, selfless spirit and dedication to advocating for her clients throughout San Diego County, Acuña commemorated the career milestone by reflecting on where she’s been – and where she wants to go.

“When I moved to San Diego in 1983, it was the fulfillment of a lifelong dream,” she says, recalling how she’d visit Point Loma every summer as a child and imagine one day calling that ocean-lined view her own. “I grew up in a large, close-knit family and my father always taught us the value of hard work, trust, and service to our community and home; his emphasis on homeownership motivated me to make it a priority from a very early age.”

Born in Calexico, as one of eight children in her family, Acuña spent her first few years in San Diego attending school full-time, working full-time, and at 20 years old, becoming a first-time homeowner when she bought a townhouse in Chula Vista.

Soon, Acuña’s friends and family members started asking her for real estate advice. She quickly realized homeownership wasn’t just a passion but also a profession. In 1988, Acuña received her real estate license and began working at a boutique San Diego-based agency. By that time, she’d bought and sold three properties, and was about to purchase a home with her husband in Point Loma, the destination of childhood dreams.

As Acuña’s family grew, she began focusing on the coastal community to work closer to where she lived in a market she knew well. Backed by a solid reputation as someone you can count on and trust, Acuña built a strong referral network and client base, joining Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices California Properties in 2006 where she grew her business as a top-producing, bilingual Realtor.

“My philosophy is guided by gratitude and an ever-present sense to pay it forward,” she says. “I love that quote, ‘We rise by lifting others,’ and I will forever seek to live, love, and give back whenever I can.”

In her people-first approach to personalized real estate service, Acuña handles every aspect of the buying and selling process from start to finish. “I’ll bring in painters, stagers, cleaners, and help coordinate an estate sale or assist with donating items in the home,” she says. “I’m their agent, their advocate and their confidant, which is so important because today’s client really needs to know and trust the person coming into their home. This is a place they’ve often lived in for 50 years, and it’s not just their property. It’s their legacy.”

Nicki Marcellino, Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices California Properties regional vice president, adds: “One of the many contributing factors to Rosamaria’s success is her ability to combine decades of experience with her knowledge of the market and a mindset for continual learning. She has an incredible eye for detail and is meticulously prepared. Most importantly, Rosamaria cares about her clients.”

An avid hiker and nature enthusiast, Acuña is highly involved in the community and spends her free time volunteering for local charities beyond her backyard. She’s the corresponding secretary of Sunset Cliffs Natural Park and spearheads the annual Spring Festival of Flowers.

As a champion for youth and personal development, Acuña is also deeply invested in the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) as part of its Executive Leadership Expedition volunteer team. She’s been an active volunteer and board member of the Friends of Scott Foundation for more than 20 years, a nonprofit organization raising money for children with cancer.

“Helping those in need is a way of life for my family,” she explains. “Giving back is how we say ‘thank you’ to a community that has given so much to us.”

Another ideal she’s instilled in her two daughters – and more than 40 nieces and nephews – is the importance of diversity, homeownership (they’re both now homeowners through their hard work), and celebrating their Latina heritage. Acuña is a longtime member of MANA de San Diego, dedicated to giving Latinas equal access to homeownership. Additionally, she’s a member of the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals (NAHREP) and was named to NAHREP 250’s list of the top 250 Latino agents.

She was also nominated for the National Association of Realtors Good Neighbor Award. In 2022, she achieved Chairman’s Circle Platinum, ranked in the top 1% out of more than 50,000 Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices sales associates worldwide. She frequently shares her knowledge at events and presentations, and yes, she’s planning 35th-anniversary celebrations throughout the year.

“After 35 years in business some people might think about retirement or what’s next,” she says. “But real estate is one of my life’s purposes. I want to help as many individuals and families own the American Dream and build security through homeownership. Every day I’m excited to go to work like it’s my first day, and I’m filled with a sense of gratitude to be able to serve my community, educate consumers on the benefits of owning their own home and do what I love.”

Contact Acuña for a complimentary consultation, to receive up-to-the-minute details about the real estate market, or to stay in touch about ongoing events at 619-890-2828; [email protected]. Visit JustCallRosa.com for additional information.
