All of San Diego County is working together for a food drive benefitting San Diego Food Bank.
Have nonperishable food items you wish to donate to help local families in need? Mark your calendars for the Neighbors Helping Neighbors Community Drive-Thru Food Drive taking place on Saturday, March 19!
The Church of Jesus-Christ of Latter Day Saints’ San Diego County congregations are teaming up with the Boy Scouts of America San Diego-Imperial Council’s Scouting for Food campaign and local business partners to collect nonperishable food donations for the San Diego Food Bank and our North County Food Bank chapter. Members of the community are invited to participate!
The most needed food items are:
- canned meat and fish
- canned vegetables
- canned and dried fruit
- canned soup
- peanut butter
- oatmeal and cereal
- dry and canned beans
- nuts and seeds
- rice
- infant formula
- powdered milk
No glass jars, home canned or baked goods can be accepted.
Donate needed items through Saturday, March 19. The majority of locations are hosting drive-thru donation sites that Saturday. To find a location, visit https://sandiegofoodbank.org/neighborshelpingneighbors/.
For those donating now, Ideal Plumbing, Heating, Air & Electrical is accepting donations Monday through Friday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m at 5161 Waring Road through March 18.
People can also participate in the virtual food drive by donating money here.
Every $1 donated means San Diego Food Bank can provide five meals.
