Baseball season is in full swing, so we have a special program planned for August.
On Friday, Aug. 19, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. we will be hosting a Brief History of Baseball. Did you know that San Diego’s Central Library @ Joan ^ Irwin Jacobs Common houses the largest baseball research collection outside of the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, N.Y.? Join us as Librarian, Jeremy Davies, from San Diego Public Library’s Sullivan Baseball Research Center and Tom Larwin from the Ted Williams Branch of the Society for American Baseball Research present highlights from the Center and its extensive collections.
On Saturday, Aug. 13, from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., Youth Services Librarian, Ms. Erin, brings the fun of the library to the Family Storytime at the San Carlos Community Garden. Storytime will feature books, songs, and interactive activities with a new gardening theme each month. Come ready to learn, laugh, and move together.
Meditation is a great tool for learning relaxation techniques to reduce stress and cultivate calm. Join us for a free meditation class on the second, third and fourth Saturday of each month from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
The San Carlos Friends of the Library used book sales are back on the first Saturday of each month from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Come buy books and support the Friends of the Library. Ask for a membership envelope from the book sale cashiers to join or donate to the San Carlos Friends of the Library. We are in need of your gently used book donations so think of us if you are doing any summer cleaning.
This month we will be displaying the paintings of Tina Fries-Miller and Stephanie Van de Wettering up to Sept. 2 in the Winer Family Community Room & Art Gallery. Join them for their artists reception on Saturday, Aug. 20 from noon to 2 p.m.
