JIM COFFEY has lived at the Park La Jolla apartments since 1956, except for a 50-year hiatus after sixth grade when his family moved to New York. He asked if I had any photos of Food Basket, which he remembered from his youth. The market, on the northwest corner of Mission Boulevard and Garnet Avenue, opened in 1951 and closed in 1996 as Lucky Markets. The June Pacific Beach Historical Society newsletter features 13 photos taken of Pacific Beach markets over the last century. Let me know if you’d like a copy.
