I read with a smile the letter from Carolan Gladden (“Urges California support for Hillary’s campaign,” Jan. 24 edition, page 6). Of course Hillary is all sweetness and light and if elected (I hope not), will cure the ills of not only the United States but of the world.
AND you have shook the hand (you hope) of the next president of the United States. That’s what politics is all about: the cloying idea that, if elected, the individual will clean up the world. However, it isn’t all that simple. No one man or woman can do it. It takes the voters to elect a leader, one who can bring both sides together in a passionate effort to do what is best for the country, a person who will put aside personal ambition and give their all to the betterment of America. Of course, this person, being human, will make mistakes. I for one ask all Americans not to let George do it but to get out there and vote. Take an interest in America, the best country in the world.
