SAFETY STORE OPENS AT RADY CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL

Rady Children’s Hospital recently opened a Safety Store that carries supplies to reduce the risk of injuries. This store was opened with the help of UnitedHealthcare. It partnered with Rady’s and gave a $10,000 grant to keep kids safe.

The store’s goal is to keep children safe whether they’re playing at home or participating in outdoor activities. At the new store, families can purchase sports products such as helmets, knee pads, and safety glasses as well as general household safety products. The store is conveniently located in the lobby of Rady Children’s Health Services building at 3665 Kearny Villa Road. For more information about the new store and its products, visit www.rchsd.org.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR FAMOSA SLOUGH CLEANUP

Volunteers are needed to plant and weed along the trails from 9 a.m. to noon, July 13 at Famosa Slough. Help restore this City wetland preserve and learn about California native plants in Point Loma. We will be planting and weeding around California native plants, removing invasives, and working on trails at the Famosa Slough and Channel. Meet at the east of the corner of West Point Loma Boulevard and Famosa Boulevard at the gate to trail. Wear work clothes; preferably long pants, long-sleeved shirt, hat, and sturdy shoes. If you have them, bring work gloves, gardening or weeding tools, or clippers. Refreshments, gloves, and tools will be provided.

Credit for community service is available. As required by SD City Park & Rec. Dept., for volunteers 17 and under, a parent or guardian must sign a waiver for each child at the start of the event, and children 13 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Contact FFS to get form prior to the event if necessary.  RSVP by emailing [email protected] or call 619-224-4591.
