The mission of Premium Decor San Diego in Pacific Beach is clear: to create unforgettable memories via its elegant-yet-affordable furniture.

Billing the business as “premium décor without premium prices,” the custom furniture store showcases American-made sofas, sectionals, and beds in its colorful showroom at 2710 Garnet Ave., Suite 108.

“I used to work for a larger company for more than 20 years and I’ve worked in the home-décor industry selling high-end products for over 25 years,” noted owner Luis Mayser. “Now my business is basically almost direct to the customer. Our attention to detail to your needs is our priority; not our inventory. We are able to provide excellent customer service through our top-of-the-line furniture at competitive prices by working with our local communities.”

Mayser noted his brick-and-mortar PB business is it – his showroom, his warehouse, etc. Best of all, he pointed out, all the furniture he sells is American-made.

Of his clients, Mayser said they are mostly homeowners, adding they come to buy furniture from him because “my prices are so good” compared to his competition.

Mayser went from one piece of furniture to another in his showroom, noting how his products are substantially marked down from prices they are sold at elsewhere. He added there also isn’t a long wait for his furniture, as there is from his competitors who have to ship their product in from foreign countries.

Going in-between articles of furniture in his showroom, Mayser pointed out that the furniture pieces he sells are all custom-made and of superior quality. “I have everything for the living room and bedroom, which are manufactured in Los Angeles,” said Mayser whose inventory includes accessories including rugs, end tables, mirrors, lamps, etc. He added the furniture frames he sells “have a lifetime warranty.”

Premium Decor has been at its present location for three years. And Mayser wants to get the word out that he is offering a better deal. “You are paying so much money buying from the big stores because you think you’re getting a better-quality product,” he said while adding, “You can buy made in the U.S. now for less price.”

There are other benefits to working with an independent furniture retailer like Mayser. “I sell a lot of the floor models for 20% off,” he said. “So, if you want this one today – you can take it. That’s why I always switch my floor. Every 45 days, you are going to see new products.”

What are customers looking for in high-end furniture? “Something that is very functional is stain-resistant,” Mayser answered. “They want something that is a good fabric color for them, that has a pull-out bed or something that is reliable that isn’t going to break or rip.”

There is yet another reason to buy American-made furniture from Mayser. “Labor in Los Angeles is fair-paid and fair-treated,” he said noting, “When you buy something overseas, you don’t know if it’s child labor.”

“What I’ve tried to communicate to the local community is, ‘Give me a chance to help you,’ said Mayser adding, “You can go to a bigger place, but you’re going to be paying double the price.”
