New Pop Warner football teams that are being organized in La Jolla still have openings for players between the ages of 5 and 13.
No experience is necessary. Maximum weight is 150 pounds.
Practices began on Aug. 7 and will run Monday through Friday, 6 to 8 p.m., throughout the month, except for Aug. 28 to 31, when practice will be from 5 to 7 p.m.
In September, practices will be cut to three days each week.
Practices are held at La Jolla Country Day School, 9490 Genesee Ave. Games will also take place at Country Day.
Volunteers are also still needed to get the new Pop Warner league off and running. Each team needs assistant coaches, a team parent, chain gang and play-checkers.
In addition, the flag football and midget cheer teams still each need a head coach.
