Pop up at Pueblo to debut party celebrating Mexico City

Want to experience the vibrancy and “color” of Mexico City up close without going there?
Now you can at the premier launch of PopUpParty Wednesday, May 24 at Pueblo in Pacific Beach, located at 877 Hornblend St. PopUps are a relatively new and evolving promotional concept combining a cooking demonstration, street performers and live music offering a compelling, multi-dimensional experience.
Titled “Color,” this inaugural PopUpParty revolves around the heritage of Mexico City. Concept co-founder Adolfo Meza Guinea promises to deliver a total immersion of the senses setting a new entertainment standard.
PB’s first PopUpParty will include live street artists, a contemporary take on traditional Mexican cuisine, premium tequila bars, live DJs and more.
Mesa drew inspiration for his new marketing concept from experimentation by others with “popup restaurants.”
“They (popups) can be in many forms and at many venues — parks, museums, concert halls — and are typically one-day events hosted by chefs where patrons buy tickets,” Meza said. “The general concept is that chefs can create something in front of patrons with the intent to spotlight local venues, and give people an experience they’ve never had before.”
Meza said Color, from 8 p.m. to midnight. on May 24 “will have VIP guests, performers, live artists, notable chefs and mixologists all interacting to complete a brilliant tapestry that will become widely known as a PopUpParty-branded event. The overall vision for PopUpParty is to connect all the senses and deliver an intimate and unforgettable evening.”
A “passionate cook at home,” Meza, who’s always wanted to be an inventor, has found his own way of doing that through food.
“I wanted to do something in the restaurant business, and we had a discussion about inviting chefs to come to an empty space and showcase their art,” he said. “That evolved, along with my passion for technology, into building a platform to allow people to collaborate. That brought the popup concept into the equation.”
Chef Eduardo Rosales of Pueblo restaurant has built a unique menu for the evening to highlight the freshest ingredients and staples of Mexican cuisine. For an interactive experience “Color” designers have created an elote stand that replicates traditional corn vendors and a salsa bar.
Mixologist Aaron Hofer will handcraft his inspiring and perfectly balanced cocktails, one of which foams. Premium tequila stations serving Tequila Martin San Roman, will take guests on a tasting and pairing journey for the senses. Renowned Chef Martin San Roman, recognized by many for passionate Mexican cuisine, created this premium tequila through age-old harvesting and fermentation techniques that showcase Mexico’s rich and colorful flavors.
Artists will demonstrate a never-seen-before live surprise performance.
Emulating the cultural core of Mexico City, “Color” will connect partygoers to the experience with an illuminating collaborative curated photo opp that will serve as a backdrop and uniquely orchestrated mood builder.
DJ Ahlex Diego will spin curated sounds to accent all of the elements of “Color.” Ahlex was born and raised in San Diego and brings a unique energy to the dance floor with his blend of electro, big room, commercial and house tunes. Guests will be carried through a night of their lives on a selection of sound and music that ties the experience together.
An innovative concept co-created by business partners and cousins Adolfo Meza and Leonardo Guinea, PopUpParty’s mission is to empower talent to create, venues to succeed and patrons to indulge through the common love of food, music, art and the element of surprise. Pop Up Party Where: Pueblo, 877 Hornblend St. When: 8 p.m. to midnight Wednesday, May 24. Info: popupparty.party.
