The San Diego County Crime Stoppers and detectives from the San Diego Police Department’s Western Division are joining forces to identify the suspects who vandalized the Barnes Tennis Center at 4490 West Point Loma Blvd. recently.
Employees of the tennis center arrived for work Sunday, June 24, at around 6 a.m., to discover outdoor glass tables broken and portions of the tennis courts destroyed. The suspects also smashed windshields and broke mirrors on five vehicles in the parking lot, said police officials.
“It seems that there were {several} people involved,” said police spokesperson Mónica Muãoz. “There were no surveillance videos {at the time}.”
The Barnes Tennis Center is an outreach location for underprivileged children in the area and plays an important role, Muãoz said. “It is very challenging and a very hateful thing to vandalize the center,” she added.
Flyers were distributed in the surrounding neighborhood to collect information about the suspects. Anyone with information related to the vandalism is urged to call the Crime Stoppers anonymous toll-free tip line at (888) 580-TIPS.
Crime Stoppers offers up to a $1,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the suspects.
