Pointer Association plans tailgate event at Homecoming game

Point Loma High alumni, family, and friends can enjoy this year’s Homecoming football game in style at a special tailgate party sponsored by football boosters.
The second annual event takes place Friday, Oct. 13 with guests admitted to a private party area at 4 p.m. Guests will have a selection of catered foods from local restaurants from which to select as they enjoy an array of beverages.
Tailgate tickets are priced at $40 each, with all proceeds going to the Pointer football program. The price includes admission to the game, tailgate and all food and beverages.
While sipping and knoshing with fellow Pointer supporters, entertainment will be provided by the high-energy Point Loma cheerleading squad and music from the talented marching band.
Food service ends at 5:30 p.m. and at 6 p.m. guests will be escorted to their reserved seating on Bennie Edens Field in preparation for the kickoff.
The opponent for Homecoming is Western League rival Mira Mesa. After a tough season last year (1-9), head coach Gary Blevins has his team off to a 4-0 start, averaging over 38 points per game. But the Pointers are averaging over 41 points a game during their current three-game win streak.
Later, all alumni are invited to participate in the halftime Homecoming parade, which is traditionally led by the Alumni Walk.
