Point Loma volleyball spikes UCSD

The Point Loma volleyball team defeated crosstown rival UCSD in the final match of the D2 West Region Showcase 25-18, 25-19, 20-25 and 25-23, on Saturday, Sept. 10.
PLNU is now 2-6 while UCSD falls to 3-5. This is the second straight win for PLNU over the Tritons.
Samantha Krakower’s 14 kills led four Sea Lions in double-figures. Brianna Sizemore had a double-double with 11 kills and 18 digs. Ashlynn Fresques also posted her fourth double-digit kills match in her last five contests with 13. Marissa Hageman was the fourth Sea Lion in double-figures with 12 kills.
Christin Fisher anchored the defense with a career-high 37 digs. That mark is just one short of the school single-match record. Cara Keturakis added 49 assists. Point Loma outhit UCSD in the contest .217 to .156.
UCSD was led by 12 kills from Megan Wright and 11 from Jessica Rieble.
Point Loma will now prepare to open PacWest play. It will welcome in Dixie State on Friday, Sept. 16 at 7 p.m.
