A partnership between Rolando’s Platt College San Diego, School of Art and Design and the San Diego Public Library has created an opportunity for art students to display their work while beautifying local libraries. At the Hervey/Point Loma Branch Library, vibrant pieces of graphic art and photography were recently displayed and will remain available for public viewing through the summer. Marketa Hancova, dean of education for Platt College, said the artwork displayed at public libraries brightens the environment and inspires people. “It is so important for art to be integrated into every part of our lives,” Hancova said. “Art should be an accessible, omnipresent part of our culture. It is wonderful to go to museums and galleries, but it is equally important to display art in the public squares of our parks, libraries and community centers.” The Hervey/Point Loma Branch Library is located at 3701 Voltaire St. For more information, call (619) 531-1539. — Staff and contribution
