PLNU women eliminated from PacWest Championships

The Point Loma women’s tennis team fell 5-2 to Concordia (Calif.) in the semifinals of the consolation bracket at the PacWest Championships on Friday, April 15.
The Sea Lions (10-12) were the No. 5 seed in the tournament, whereas the Eagles (8-10) were seeded No. 8.
PLNU fell behind early dropping doubles matches on courts 2 and 3. Nikki Newell and Regina von Koch allowed Point Loma to avoid being swept in doubles with an 8-2 win at No. 1s.
Things looked to be turning in Point Loma’s favor when singles began as Michelle Torres won her third straight match at the PacWest Championships by taking down Caitlyn Uzzi 6-1 and 6-2. The match would end shortly after as Concordia won in two sets on courts 2, 4 and 5 to seal the match.
That wraps up the season for Point Loma. The Sea Lions finish the 2016 campaign with a 10-12 record.
