A Point Loma High School senior has received a nomination to the Air Force Academy. Dan Berry, son of Mark and Carleen Berry of Point Loma, was presented with his nomination by 52nd District U.S. Rep. Scott Peters in a ceremony held at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot museum. Berry hopes to enter the prestigious service academy with a major in bio chemistry. Attaining the rank of Eagle Scout was one of Berry’s accomplishments. On the PLHS campus, Berry has been active in many diverse activities including being selected for Rotary Youth Leadership Awards, a summer camp for incoming high school seniors to teach character building and leadership skills. Berry is an Aaron Price Fellows Program scholar at PLHS, a three-year program that includes up-close and personal behind-the-scenes looks at government, business, non-profit and cultural institutions. He has also displayed his dance skills at annual MadChaps shows, is a pitcher on the PLHS varsity baseball team and a member of the Pointer chapter of the National Comedy Theater improv group.
