Bird Rock residents came out in droves for the 32nd annual Beaumont Avenue Fourth of July Celebration and Parade. Winding its way along Beaumont Avenue up to Mira Monte, the event brought neighbors out of their houses and into the streets to watch the cavalcade of red-white-and-blue floats as they made their way through the neighborhood. This year, the theme was “Happy Days on Beaumont Avenue,” and residents came decked out in their finest 1950s attire to celebrate America’s birthday. Even the canine element didn’t miss a chance to dress up for the occasion, and plenty of patriotic dogs could be seen getting a piece of the parade action. In addition to commemorating our country’s independence, event organizers also celebrated Bird Rock Elementary’s 60th anniversary. The parade finished with a celebration in the cul-de-sac behind La Jolla Methodist Church, complete with food, carnival games and a performance from the band, the “Sophisticats.”
